Programs: Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Memorial Program

About the Ryan Memorial Program

The Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Memorial Program honors the legacy of Dr. Kenneth J. Ryan by continuing his work to improve reproductive health through evidence-based research, provider education, and advocacy.

An outstanding scientist, inspirational teacher, and forceful advocate, Dr. Kenneth J. Ryan changed the face of modern obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive health and rights. The PRCH Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Memorial Program honors his pioneering legacy and supports continuing work with educational, research, and advocacy programs that reflect his undaunted commitment to improving women’s reproductive health and rights.

The annual American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Clinical Meeting (ACOG ACM) Program brings together leaders in the field in Dr. Ryan’s name for the Ryan Program. The event includes the Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Lecture—a tribute to Dr. Ryan that addresses a critical issue in reproductive health, and the presentation of the Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Physician Leadership Award. The event is hosted by Dr. Ryan’s family; Ryan program chair and ACOG past president Douglas Laube, MD, MEd; and the Program Committee.

The annual Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Physician Leadership Award is presented to a physician who, like Dr. Ryan, has been a longstanding pioneer in improving reproductive health and rights through research, teaching, and advocacy. The award is presented by Dr. Ryan’s family to a physician whose career-wide efforts have resulted in substantial improvements to reproductive health care.
