Today in Chicago, Leadership Training Academy Fellow Tara Kumaraswami, MD, addressed a crowd of more than 150 at “Women Speakout for Birth Control,” a rally to support the new federal rule requiring insurers to cover contraception in full. Joining Dr. Kumaraswami as guest speakers were Representatives Mike Quigley and Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), along with the leaders of several reproductive health organizations.
Dr. Kumaraswami talked about her patients’ needs for the birth control methods that suit their health and lives. "[L]ike my colleagues across the nation, I am tired of insurance plans getting in the way of women’s health." Read the rest of Dr. Kumaraswami's speech.
